Editing means comparing the original translation with the source material, to eliminate linguistic mistakes and improve overall readability. This is the service you need if you already have a translation (made either in-house or by a freelance translator) and you need to be sure the final quality is high. We offer editing in the same language pairs and fields of expertise as our localization services. If you're interested in getting release-ready text with a detailed log of mistakes made by your translator, please see our quality assessment section.

Proofreading is a process to ensure the final document is of a high quality. It is usually performed in the post-editing stage of the localization process and entails correcting all grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, typos, incorrect punctuation, inconsistencies, poorly structured sentences, and incorrect terminology.

We proofread texts originally written in Russian and Ukrainian in-house. We can also enlist the help of experienced linguists who are native speakers of other languages and will proofread text written in our other supported languages.

To achieve excellent localization results, you have to constantly evaluate the work of every translator and translation agency you work with. Only by relying on an accurate assessment based on the industry's best practices can you be sure that a translation meets your needs.

Quality assessment consists of proofreading the text and recording all the mistakes found in a table for comparison. In the final stage, the translation is scored on a 100-point scale. This service will help keep your translators "in good shape" and avoid wasting your money on service providers who don't match your expectations. Most importantly, you won't have to apologize for an offensive ad or suddenly find yourself the winner of the "Funniest Product of the Month" award.

Our quality assessors approach their work objectively and impartially. We score only real errors, not changes that are a matter of preference, so our quality rating won't turn into an instrument of competition. We're always open to a well-grounded discussion, putting your interests and the final quality in first place.

Technolex Translation Studio offers quality assessment services in the same language pairs and fields of expertise as our localization services.

HIGH-QUALITY SERVICES

The days when a translator needed a simple word processor and some paper dictionaries are long gone. Today translators must master several professional software applications to compete in the market.

We use a large number of professional translation tools to achieve our targets. However, we don't use machine translation. That's a big no-no for us.

Reviews

I've been working with Vladimir from Technolex Translation Studio for several years now. He does the important work to localize our software and web site to Russian language. He's always been quick to respond to task requests and questions, and more important, the quality of his work is exceptional. I look forward to continue the partnership with him for many years.

I have been working with Vladislav from Technolex Translation Studio for many years and I am very happy to have them among other language providers. Cooperation-wise, I met them for the first time when working for the previous employer. I joined AVG in April 2011 and after a couple of months we did Localization Partner Selection process – I knew Technolex would be the first choice for Russian language services. My feeling was based not only on perfect cooperation we have had at that time-being, but also because of another aspect – the added value. Apart from delivering translation service, which all the customers are used to, Technolex provides suggestions and tools in terms of workflow, engineering and quality. They are very skilled and can prove this on daily basis. For me, Technlolex is #1 solution for Russian translations.

When ordering translations from Technolex Translation Studio I can always be sure to receive not only the best service, but also the highest quality delivered on time, or in most cases even way ahead of the deadline. Simply put, they are every manager’s dream vendor and I’m happy to work with them.

I'm glad that Technolex is among the many companies that I've had the chance to work with. Working with them is very predictable. The translations are done how we need them: quickly and always with high quality.

Technolex Translation Studio has been our reliable partner for years. During that period the translators of this company have completed lots of diverse translation projects, including complicated technical texts. I would particularly like to acknowledge the efficiency of the team, since delivery of translations was always done on time or even ahead of the schedule.

ADVICE TO CUSTOMERS

Selecting a service provider is always difficult for a translation services customer. In Kyiv alone there are more than 300 companies that position themselves as translation agencies. According to our estimates, only about 10 companies in Ukraine comply with the QA standards required to ensure a decent result.

Therefore, if your goal is to receive a translation that won't embarrass you in front of your customers, we recommend that you choose a translation agency carefully. Different criteria can be used to make the choice, but we'll present the most basic:

Translation is a job for a skilled professional. You'll need to hire specialists with an appropriate level of expertise. These experts require appropriate payment. Thus, judging by our prices alone, you can surmise the skill level of the translators we hire.

The following is a reasonable budget for a translation project:

  • The translator receives 50%

  • The editor receives 25%

  • 10-15% goes to administrative and other costs

  • The translation agency receives 10-15%

Look at the per-page price of translation and divide by 2. The result is approximately what the translator receives for one hour of work. Then consider whether a professional would work for that kind of money. If that is unlikely, then your important translation will probably be entrusted to a student or amateur. Alternatively, the editing stage may simply be omitted, leaving no place for QA.

A translation agency must have quality assurance processes. Ask a translation agency representative to describe theirs.

When competing for a large order, a serious translation agency is generally willing to provide a small test translation to convince a potential customer that it provides high-quality services. This question alone can screen out some shoddy service providers. Furthermore, you can submit the test translation to different service providers to compare quality. By the way, we recommend having a competing translation agency perform the quality check.

Unlike many translation agencies in the Ukrainian market, we don't have a long list of supported languages that takes your breath away. We translate from English, German, French, and Spanish into Russian and Ukrainian. We translate into our native languages (Russian and Ukrainian) and only extremely rarely do we translate in the other direction. Again, this is to maintain superb quality, because a professional result can only be obtained when translating into one's native language. In addition to our language specialization, we also specialize by subject matter. The majority (roughly 60%) of the texts we translate are IT-related. We also handle texts related to the auto industry, oil and gas, legal, marketing, and technical subjects. We never accept working on a text unless we're certain we can guarantee a great result. That means if we accept your order, you can rest assured that it will be finished on time with high quality.

Be sure not to run up against a "shoemaker without shoes". The websites of some translation agencies have lots of basic grammatical, punctuation, and spelling mistakes. These mistakes can even be found in paragraphs describing how thoroughly they work to ensure translation quality! The presence of these mistakes on a translation agency's website increases the likelihood that similar issues exist in translations made for its customers.

Any company that reaches a certain level tries to build a recognizable image. Of course a logo, corporate identity, website, and a custom email address does not tell you about the quality of an agency's translation work. However, at a minimum their absence indicates weak organization of processes.
